How to Listen to Your Own Intuition

thecarolinawitchDecember 10, 2025December 9, 2025

There comes a moment on every witch’s path when the noise of the world becomes too loud, too bossy, too insistent. And your spirit whispers, “Come back to yourself.” That whisper? That gentle tug beneath your ribs? That sudden knowing that doesn’t come from logic or from anything you “should” do? That’s your intuition, and she is ancient.

She is the wild woman in your bones. She is the hedge witch who stands between worlds. And she is the whisper of your ancestors, the hum of the earth beneath your feet, the spark of magic in your chest.

Although you may not have heard her, she’s always been trying to talk to you.

But most of us were taught to ignore her. To people-please, to be “reasonable,” to play small. To override that inner knowing because someone else seemed more confident, more authoritative, more certain.

This blog post is your invitation to come home…to relearn the language of your own inner voice.

What intuition really is (and what it isn’t)

Intuition isn’t a mystical gift given to a chosen few. It’s a natural sense, built into your body, mind, and energy field. And it’s the way your spirit translates guidance from:

  • your subconscious mind

  • your ancestral memory

  • your connection to the earth

  • your energy body

  • and the unseen realms

It’s not about fear, worry, or “what-if” catastrophizing. It doesn’t shout. It doesn’t panic. Intuition is calm. Clear. Grounded. Soft but firm.

It feels like:

  • a gentle pull

  • a quiet knowing

  • a tingling or warmth

  • a sudden clarity

  • a message that feels like it came from deep inside your chest instead of your brain

Fear screams. Intuition nudges.

Step 1: Create space for your inner voice

Intuition speaks quietly, and she waits for you to get still enough to hear her.

Try creating micro-moments of silence:

  • a few deep breaths before you get out of bed

  • lighting a candle before your morning coffee

  • taking a five-minute walk without your phone

  • doing dishes while letting your mind drift

  • sitting with your tarot deck before pulling a card

These tiny moments of slowness open the channel between your physical self and your intuitive self.

Step 2: Tune into your body (your first oracle)

Your body is always communicating with you. She reacts before your mind can spin a story.

Notice what happens when you think about a decision:

  • Does your chest feel open…or tight?

  • Do you breathe easier…or hold your breath?

  • Does your stomach relax…or clench?

  • Do you feel a pull forward…or a retreat backward?

Your body doesn’t lie. She’s your most reliable divination tool.

Step 3: Pay attention to the “whispers”

Intuition rarely descends like a thunderbolt. It shows up as:

  • a repeated thought

  • a feeling you can’t shake

  • a dream that lingers

  • a symbol that keeps showing up

  • a message you overhear and feel in your bones

When something keeps tapping your awareness…pay attention. That persistence is guidance.

Step 4: Use your witchcraft to open the channel

You are a witch, and your craft amplifies your intuition.

Try incorporating intuitive practices into your daily magic:

  • Tarot or oracle cards (ask: “What am I not seeing?”)

  • Pendulum work (use it to confirm what you already feel)

  • Meditation with crystals (especially amethyst, labradorite, moonstone)

  • Herbal allies like mugwort, rosemary, and lavender

  • Fire scrying or candle gazing

  • Journaling with your spirit team

These aren’t tools to replace your intuition — they’re tools to help you hear it more clearly.

Step 5: Notice the difference between intuition and anxiety

This is one of the trickiest parts, especially if you’re neurodivergent, sensitive, or recovering from trauma. Luckily, there are clear distinctions:

Intuition feels like:

  • calm certainty

  • subtle nudges

  • grounded knowing

  • quiet messages

  • gentle guidance

Anxiety feels like:

  • urgency

  • catastrophizing

  • physical tension

  • spiraling thoughts

  • fear-based “what ifs”

A simple trick:
If the voice feels frantic, it’s not intuition.
If it feels settled, even if the message is unexpected, it’s intuition.

Step 6: Practice trusting yourself (even in small ways)

Your intuition strengthens each time you follow it.

Start with tiny choices:

  • Which tea should I drink?

  • Do I want to go left or right on this walk?

  • Should I text this person right now?

  • Does my body want rest or action today?

Small acts of self-trust build the foundation for bigger intuitive leaps later.

Step 7: Keep an intuition journal

This is magic in action.

Write down:

  • intuitive hits

  • dreams

  • weird synchronicities

  • feelings you get before something happens

  • those moments where you “knew” something

Over time, you’ll start to see a pattern:
You’ve been intuitive your whole life. You just didn’t know that’s what it was.

Step 8: Stop seeking external validation

This one is hard, especially for women taught to be polite, agreeable, and self-doubting. But intuition cannot thrive when you constantly outsource your decisions.

Your inner wisdom is real. Your knowing is sacred. And your path doesn’t need anyone’s permission. Ask yourself first. Everyone else is just noise.

The more you listen, the louder she speaks

Your intuition is part of your magic, part of your wild nature, part of your soul’s remembering.

The more attention you give her…
the clearer she becomes.
The stronger she feels.
and the more your life aligns with your true path.

Listening to your intuition isn’t about becoming someone new. It’s about returning to the witch you’ve always been.

A simple ritual to awaken your inner knowing

Light a candle.
Place your hand on your heart.
Take three deep, grounding breaths.

Whisper:

“I trust the wisdom within me.
I walk in truth, clarity, and knowing.”

Sit in the glow of the flame for a moment.
Let the quiet settle.
See what rises.

Your intuition is ready.
She’s been waiting for you.
